What is a VPN?

A VPN is a virtual private network. It allows you to create a private, secure connection to the internet. A VPN also hides your IP address and encrypts your connection, which prevents eavesdroppers and other hackers from accessing your data.

A VPN creates a virtual data “tunnel,” and all of your web traffic is directed through that private tunnel via privately owned, fully secure servers. This secures your data and communications while allowing you to access content from any part of the world.

Does AdBlock VPN Block Ads?

No. At this time, AdBlock VPN is limited to VPN functionality only. This is a new product for the AdBlock team and we look forward to adding critical elements in the very near future, including the ability to block ads at the VPN level. (Keep in mind, however, that some platforms currently forbid blocking ads in this way, such as Android and iOS.)

What Are "Device Names"? How Many Devices Can I Connect?

Device names are arbitrary, unique names assigned to each device you've connected to your AdBlock VPN account. You can connect up to 6 devices to AdBlock VPN. You can add, remove, and rename devices as-needed by accessing your AdBlock account.

What Type of Encryption Does AdBlock VPN Use?

AdBlock VPN uses 256 Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-26). AES-26 is the global standard for data encryption. The “256” in AES-256 refers to the key-combination size, and 256-bit encryption has an impossibly large number of possible combinations.
